Book Recommendation

Dear Jerry,
I have been tasked with recommending a book to you and I’m having trouble picking one there are so many to choose from. I think I have recommended Unbroken before so I will stick with another of my all time favorites The Hunger Games series. I don’t know if I have recommended this book before but even so I will recommend it again. The Hunger Games is a fantastic dystopian trilogy following a young girl named Katiss Everdeen. As she fights for her life she discovers that survival in a world where children are sent to fight each other to the death is a lot harder than anyone can imagine. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves action and dystopia. The Hunger Games has plot twists every turn and will keep you flipping the pages. This series is one of my favorite series because I love how realistic parts of it can be. Of course there are parts that are not realistic at all but for the most part the book is very believable and I think that is part of why the series is a best seller. If you like the book 1984 by George Orwell then there’s a pretty good chance you will like The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a more modern version of 1984 it exhibits the same kind of ideas that the government is not what it should be. If you haven’t read it go read it its a must read. I would recommend this book for teens and adults. So that’s it Jerry go read the Hunger Games until next time. your bud

Current Event

Dear Jerry,
I would like to discuss with you something that is currently happening in the United States, abortion. Abortion is a very heated topic in today’s society. often these following questions will be asked concerning it. Should we allow people to do it? Is it a personal choice or a federal choice? Shouldn’t it be up to the people to decide? The most pressing and important question asked is this, what is United States going to do about abortion? Right before Obama left office he issued a Planned Parenthood edict that would protect some of Planned Parenthood’s funding. Thankfully the House passed a resolution 230-188 to reverse this order. I think this is a promising sign coming from the start of a new presidency. Planned Parenthood receives around $500 million federal dollars every year. Its good to see the United States government finally taking this funding seriously and deciding to do something about it.Abortion is an atrocious act and should be stopped and I think the first step to doing that is to keep cutting Planned Parenthood’s funding.Abortion is one of the most pressing and important matters of the United States its statewide genocide of unborn children.Millions of babies are killed each year. There are more babies that have died from abortion than people that were killed in the Holocaust. That is a sobering thought. A lot of people struggle with the concept of abortion and whether it should be allowed or not, but the reality is that there will always be abortion no matter what we do we cannot guarantee a stop to it. Although we cannot guarantee a complete cease to abortion we can stop funding it and stop places like Planned Parenthood from having the proper funds to operate. This reverse order gives me hope that the United States are heading in the right direction and I cannot wait to see what else is in store for us. Marvel or DC?

Dear Jerry,
First things first I want to tell you that as I sit her writing this blog post I have a pig in my arms… No it is not a stuffed animal, I have a real live breathing pig and he is sleeping on my arm. His name is Tobias (Tobi for short) and he is one out of the six pigs that we now own. He is really adorable, but I won’t get carried away talking about him, I just thought I would mention him to you. Now let me focus… This week’s blog topic is somewhat of a hot topic in One Room. It comes up very often and everyone has their own (usually very strong) opinions about it. As you have probably observed we one roomers love to argue about stuff (especially tuna sandwiches) but one of our favorite things to argue about is whether DC comics or Marvel is better. My opinion on the matter is pretty clear… I like both of them equally. I don’t have a favorite, it all depends on my mood, sometimes I’m in the mood for marvel and sometimes I’m in the mood for DC. I don’t have a lot of knowledge about comics so I don’t think I can really choose a favorite until I learn more about them. People are always telling me I have to choose a side and that I can’t have both, to that I answer, “Who says?” I don’t have a favorite but I do have a preference. I like the differences between DC and Marvel. I like how marvel has a great diversity in superheroes and I like how DC has very clever story plots. I am not a diehard comic fan but I do love Marvel and DC. My preference is usually Marvel but like I said I don’t have a favorite and it all depends on what my mood is. So that’s my stance, I don’t have a favorite and I refuse to pick a favorite until I know more about them. I will say that my preference is Marvel because I like the diversity in superheroes and I mean hello any comic that has a dude that shoots a bow and arrow automatically has my vote. Alright Jerry it’s been a real nice chat but I have more school to do so I will talk to you later. Your bud

New Year’s Resolutions

Dear Jerry,

It’s good to be talking to you again, although I wish it was under better circumstances. I love you Jerry I really do, but me talking to you can only mean one thing, and that’s that winter break is over and we are back at school. I have been assigned to talk to you about New Year’s resolutions. I have never really been big on making New Year’s resolutions for myself but this year I made a lot. I won’t share all of them with you but I will share some that I have already made progress on. One of the top things on my resolutions list is that I made the resolution to run a 5k this year. I have signed up and will be running in the Tour De Cape 5k on the 21st. I am very excited to be running in my first race and I will be sure to tell you all about it. Here are five other resolutions out of the very long list.

-Finish out strong in my senior year of basketball
-Graduate High school
-Go on more Adventures
-Try New Food
-Watch classic movies that I’ve never seen

I can tell you Jerry so far I think I’m doing pretty well on my resolutions. My team and I played our first game this past week and we won 50-31 it was a great game and our team definitely played well. There’s not much I can say for graduating high school except for I’m trying my best and I’m halfway there. I have definitely been on lots of adventures and tried a lot of interesting new food already this year and I’m excited for what is to come. Alright Jerry let’s talk about the big one… movies. I know you hang around us One Roomers all the time so I’m sure you’ve heard something about the shock of my lack of knowledge of certain classic movies, the top two being, Charlie Brown, and Winnie the Pooh. I can tell you I fully intend to watch these classics and I have already started with watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. So don’t freak out on me Jerry I will at some point in my life watch Winnie the Pooh. Alright Jerry I will talk to you later your bud

Holiday Season

Dear Jerry,

Deck the halls with boughs of holly…oh no… not again! Let me start by saying that song has been stuck in my head for the past week and I cant get it out. But on a more serious (not really) note its the holidays! that means Thanksgiving!Christmas!New Years! The Holidays are always crazy. I’m going to share with you some of my favorite things about the holidays. The holidays are great and also very sad for my family.  During the holiday season we have many death dates including my sister, my uncle and my grandmother’s. Although it is a sad season I enjoy many things about it. One of my favorite things about the holidays is the food. I mean c’mon who doesn’t like food? You get stuffing, turkey, candy and so much more! I also love the decorations especially the Christmas lights. I love Christmas it is one of my favorite holidays. My family has a tradition of drinking eggnog and moose milk around a fire during Christmas time. Now I know what you’re thinking “who drinks moose milk? Is she serious? she must be crazy.” well let me assure you Jerry moose milk is not actually milk from a moose. Moose milk is regular milk heated up and mixed with brown sugar and vanilla. It so delicious and we always drink tons of it around the holidays. Another Christmas tradition is that on Christmas eve we always attend the Christmas eve service at our church then after when we get home we all sit down and watch our favorite Christmas movies. The movies we usually watch are the Grinch with Jim Carey, Elf and Home Alone. On Christmas morning we always get up and make cinnamon rolls for breakfast then open our presents. Well Jerry until next time, Merry Christmas. Your bud

Dear Jerry,
so I have to post a selection from my novel this week and I think it fair to give you a heads up that my novel is not great. During the month of November my inner editor is usually locked up or destroyed so you will have to excuse any typos or problems with my grammar.I hope you enjoy my very bad novel Jerry have fun reading.

Wait where am I? I don’t remember how I got here. I remember seeing that guy and… oh no… I think I’ve been kidnapped. I look around but I don’t see anything all I see is black. My hands feel like they are bound together with something. I wriggle my wrists and something scratchy digs into them. I think its rope. I have a gag in my mouth. I wriggle but my legs are bound together. My back is pressed against something cold and metal or maybe it’s dry wall I don’t know and I cant tell. I’m disoriented and my breathing is coming in rapid gasps. I just need to take a second to calm down and breath but the darkness seems to be closing in around me.I close my eyes, take a deep breath and refocus. I wriggle my hands again and realize that my wrists were sloppily bound the rope comes right off. Once I get the rope off I untie the rope binding my legs together. I stand, stretch out my stiff joints and take the gag out of my mouth. I slide my hands against the hard wall until I find a corner of the room. I slide my hands until I find the light switch and flip it on. I’m in a bight room filled with furniture. It seems almost like a bedroom but I don’t take enough time to get a good look. I exit the room silently and swiftly.

Well that was the beginning of my novel I hope you enjoyed it Jerry, until next time. Your bud

Voting

Dear Jerry,
sorry my post is late Ive been pretty sick lately. But now that I am finally getting to write to you I have to tell you that this presidential election has been pretty crazy. There has been a lot of action going on with this election. I don’t think that either of the candidates were great choices to be our next president but out of the two candidates I think Donald Trump is the better choice. I’m not old enough to vote yet (barely missed it) but if I could vote I would have voted for him. I think that he is a better choice for many reasons. One of the big reasons I think this, is because Donald Trump is a business man and as much as people do not like to admit it America runs like a business. There are many things wrong with America and some of those things have to do with business issues like our national debt. I also agree with some of Trumps big policies. I like parts of his policies on immigration, gun control and abortion. I also like the fact that Trumps vice president Mike Pence is a christian. I think that it is great that Trump is a second amendment supporter and that’s another reason i would vote for him. This presidential election has caused lots of stress and anxiety for lots of people. I think that this election was one of the most important elections ever. I think it was important for a lot of reasons but a main one would be the fact that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have such strong opposing views. I am violently opposed to some of Hillary Clinton’s policies and views so that is another reason I would have voted for Donald Trump instead of Hillary Clinton. Your bud

Interview

Dear Jerry,

My job this week was to interview an influential person in my life and to write a blog about them and my interview. The person I chose to interview was my five year old nephew Jay. Let me start by telling you how he is influential to me. Jay influences a lot of what I do. He is an influence in the way I talk, the way I act and even the way I think. Here are some questions that I asked Jay during my interview.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
“I want to be a circus man that does tricks like magic tricks.”

Jay influences the way I think about my future. He does this in the way that I see what he wants to do and I see the possibilities for him. He doesn’t think about how hard it will be or the chances that, that’s what he will actually be when he grows up. He just knows what he wants to do and he believes he can. I think we could all learn a lesson from this. Here is another question I asked him.

What is something you should always do?
“You should always obey. Do the right thing.”

Jay influences me in the way that he is unquestioning about what the right things to do are. If I do something wrong Jay will sometimes call me out on it and tell me that what I did was wrong. Jay is a big influence on my life in the way that he makes me more aware of what I say and what I do. Now I’m going to finish off my blog with a few other questions I asked him and his answers.

Should you obey police officers?
“Yes, because God made them to stop bad guys.”

Should you obey your parents?
“Yes, you should always obey your parents because that’s what the Lord tells you.”

Should you be brave and try new things?
“Yes, because the lord tried to make you like that and you should try new things even if your scared.”

I hope this blog was enlightening and enjoyable I’ll talk to you later Jerry. Your bud

I will not accept defeat!

Dear Jerry,
You might have heard about a tuna argument that occurred during school last week… Let me assure you, I will not accept defeat! Even though I am the only one who knows the right way to make a tuna sandwich I am always looking out for someone to join me and have the best tuna sandwhiches ever!I went home and asked my family and my sister agrees that I know the correct way to make a tuna sandwhich. What can I say? Sisters rock! But now I must talk about my actual topic. My topic this week is what do I enjoy doing outside of school? Well let’s start by saying that the #1 thing I enjoy doing right now is hanging out with my friends and holding my couple week old puppies. The puppies are so adorable and adding some quality time with my friends on top of that is just the perfect combination. I also enjoy doing all kinds of other stuff besides school. I like to bowl (even though I’m terrible). I like to run, play basketball, hangout, and go on adventures.I also enjoy watching TV (who doesn’t?) and my new obsession is forensic files. Now you may be wondering, “what is forensic files?” I will tell you. Forensic files is a show where they take real life murder cases and solve them using forensic evidence.Pretty cool right? I also enjoy going to the library on a regular basis.I love all the books and the environment it is just so much fun.I enjoy going to the bookstore and going to coffee shops. I love hanging out with my nephew and taking him on adventures like to the library, the book store, the park, and exploring our city. Another thing I really enjoy is going to an annual tractor show called flywheelers there is so much cool stuff there and not just tractors. They have all kinds of delicious food like elephant ears, boiled peanuts, icees and so much more.So there’s another glimpse into what I like until next time your bud,
